Two of our 4th year students will be travelling to Romania with the non-profit organisation Habitat for Humanity over the Easter break.
Laura Govan and Leah Heeran will be building houses for the less fortunate, learning about Romanian culture, and helping out any way they can. They’ve had many meetings with their team over the past few months, which have helped them learn about the families they’ll be helping, as well as getting to know the other volunteers in their group.
Habitat for Humanity is dedicated to eliminating substandard housing and to making adequate, affordable shelter a matter of conscience and action. Habitat has helped more than 9.8 million people access decent housing worldwide.
At the moment, Laura and Leah are fundraising for their trip by holding events and collections. So far they’ve raised about €1,000, and they have a few events planned for the coming few weeks to hopefully raise lots, lots more!
They appreciate all the support they get, so if you’d like to get involved they’d be hugely grateful. Even the smallest of donations are a big help! Please contact the 4th year office for further information.
