5th Year Students Skydive For Charity

Our students Yuriy Kovalchuk and Stephen Lally are preparing to utilize the adventure of skydiving as an opportunity to raise money for a good cause. The two 5th year students from the Institute of Education are raising funds for the Ross Nugent Foundation which will go directly to buying needed machines in St Clare’s oncology ward in Beaumont Hospital. The charity is also trying to raise awareness of Ewings Sarcoma, a rare form of cancer.

Stephen is hoping the fundraising will offer him the opportunity to extend a thank you to the staff at Beaumont Hospital for the wonderful care they provide to patients everyday. In support of Stephen’s motives Yuri was happy to get involved: “I think it is important to help others … who knows one day you might need help yourself. There are many benefits to fundraising like this – it provides vital extra funding to support people in need. In addition to raising money for the cause you also raise awareness and consequently increase the chance of raising more and helping the cause further. I think it also adds to the sense of community as you know people are looking out for each other”.

The boys are trying to raise €1,000.
