Our FREE Leaving Cert Online Masterclass Series will help 6th year students maximise their marks and achieve success in a number of subjects.
This FREE Online Masterclass Series will take place every Wednesday at 5:00pm and 7:00pm from February 10th – March 3rd and each class will be approximately 1-hour in length.
You will receive a comprehensive step-by-step breakdown of what is required for success, with specific focus on the marking scheme and timing to help you maximise your potential grade in the Leaving Cert exam.

Access Past Masterclasses
All of our Masterclasses are recorded live. This means that you can still access any Masterclass you register for after the live event has finished.
If you missed any of the live Masterclasses, you can still register using the specific subject forms below and you will be sent an access link, where you can replay a live recording of the Masterclasses you have chosen. These recordings will be available to watch on demand until the end of the 2021 State exams.

Each subject’s Masterclass has been specifically designed, by our excellent teachers, to give you a complete and comprehensive step-by-step breakdown of what is required for success, with specific focus on the marking scheme and the methodology to help maximise your potential grade in the Leaving Cert exam.
Masterclass SubjectsMaths (H) with Louise Boylan
Our Maths (H) Masterclass will be taught by Louise Boylan.
Louise has almost 20 years of experience teaching Mathematics and Applied Mathematics. As one of Ireland’s first female post-primary Maths authors, Louise has co-authored 15 books to date, including the “New Concise Project Maths” series of textbooks and “Destination Maths” for Post-Primary classrooms. She has also co-authored the best-selling “Less Stress More Success” series of revision books.
Louise has prepared and presented dozens of online videos for the Eir StudyHub, for students to use as a learning and revision tool. Louise has also taught revision seminars to examination candidates on the Trinity Access Programme.
Louise also consults on the content of Mock Examination papers for students at both Leaving and Junior Certificate Level.
Her experience in textbook writing has established Louise as one of the country’s leading experts on the Post-Primary Mathematics syllabuses and her experience of correcting with the State Examinations Commission gives her an in-depth knowledge of what is required by students to get the best results possible.
Louise’s style of teaching helps to instill confidence in students by giving them the skills required to understand and master the syllabus content. Louise is a member of the Irish Mathematics Teachers’ Association of Ireland.
French with Cian Hogan
Our French Masterclass will be taught by Cian Hogan.
Cian has been teaching French at the Institute since 2001. He is the author of Rapid Revision French, Accent Français: A New Approach to the Leaving Cert Oral and Aural Exams. Cian is one of the authors of the 2015 Exam Times supplement, published by the Irish Times.
English with Paul McCormack
Our English Masterclass will be taught by Paul McCormack.
Paul has taught English and History for the past 18 years. He has been teaching both Leaving and Junior Cert at the Institute since 1999, and has designed and delivered accessible and structured exam preparation courses for the last 14 years. He is the co-author of Uncovering History, a successful Junior Cert History textbook, and has contributed the model answers to the Folens Leaving Cert Shakespeare series. He is also one of the authors of the 2015 Exam Times supplement, published by the Irish Times.
Chemistry with Tara Lyons
Our Chemistry Masterclass will be taught by Tara Lyons.
Tara has been teaching Higher Level Chemistry at The Institute of Education since 2001. During this time, many of her students have achieved excellent results with one of her students receiving the highest grade in Chemistry in Ireland. Her aim is to make her subject clear, accessible and interesting so that students will want to continue studying Chemistry. Tara is one of the authors of the 2015 Exam Times supplement, published by the Irish Times.
Irish (H) with Dr. Michael Casey
Our Irish Masterclass will be taught by Dr. Michael Casey.
Dr. Michael Casey is a Fulbright Scholar and was awarded a PhD in 2020 from Ulster University, Derry. He has 15 years of teaching experience, having previously worked as an Irish tutor in both the US and Germany. He is an exam corrector with the State Examinations Commission.
Maths (O) with Jean Kelly
Our Maths (O) Masterclass will be taught by Jean Kelly.
Jean has a wide breadth of experience in teaching Leaving Cert Ordinary Level Maths to students of all abilities and has been teaching in The Institute of Education for over 10 years. Over that time, Jean has developed an unmatched track record in helping students through the Maths syllabus and brings a refreshing approach to the explanation, clarification and tuition of the Maths syllabus.
History with Kieran Roche
Our History Masterclass will be taught by Kieran Roche.
Kieron is a highly experienced teacher who has taught History for 22 years. He is a supervisor and exam corrector with the State Examinations Commission for both Junior Cycle and Leaving Certificate History papers. He is the author of Richard Corish – A Biography which was published in 2012.
Biology with Wesley Hammond
Our Biology Masterclass will be taught by Wesley Hammond.
Wesley has been teaching Biology for 11 years. He is an exam corrector with the State Examinations Commission and has created a website used by thousands of Biology students in preparation for the Leaving Certificate. In 2018, 35% of his students received a H1 in Higher Level Biology.
This current series of Masterclasses has finished but you can still register to watch the live recordings by filling in the specific subject registration forms above. You will be sent an access link, where you can replay a live recording of the Masterclasses you have chosen. These recordings will be available to watch on demand until the end of the 2021 State exams.
