This course will aim to give first year students the essential skills to develop their Irish language at the early stages of their Junior Cert cycle. The course will focus on the composition of the three primary tenses in order to allow students to confidently compose and structure their own sentences. Building on from this we will look at the composition of questions, negatives, the saorbhriathar, prepositional verbs, and the uses of the séimhiú and urú in Irish. To complement our class notes, students will also have access to videos to reinforce course material. By the end of our Christmas course, students will have a better understanding of the building blocks of the Irish language (which will allow for a smoother transition to our Easter course material).

Topics from:

  • Scileanna Labhartha
Phrases to improve spoken skills, boosting confidence ahead of the Classroom Based Assessments.
  • Léamhthuiscint
