This 4-day Intensive Online Revision course provides 2nd year students with expert tuition, high quality notes and key techniques to enable them to achieve their maximum potential in the Junior Certificate exams.

Students enrolling in this course will receive:

  • Daily live and interactive online classes.
  • Pre-recorded topic tutorials.
  • Recordings of classes to enable students to replay, rewind and re-watch all of their classes.
  • These recordings will be available to students until the end of the 2020/21 academic year.
  • The Institute’s legendary class notes delivered to their home.

This course has been specifically designed with the student and their academic progression in mind. The topics that will be covered have been exclusively chosen by our expert teachers , in order to cover essential elements of the subject syllabus up to this point. All classes will be supported by The Institute of Education’s legendary class notes. These will be provided free of charge and will be delivered in December, in advance of the course start date. The course will also be available to access up until the end of the 2020/21 academic year.

This course focuses on the new Project Maths syllabus for Junior Cycle. Students are encouraged to gain confidence in their problem solving skills through a series of practical, interactive exercises. This course will also include material following on from the Common Introductory Course.

In this course students are introduced to key elements of the Junior Cycle Common Level Science syllabus.

English

This course focuses on developing the skills required for the new Junior Cycle English course, in particular the three key strands of oral language, reading and writing:

Topics from:

  • Oral Language
    Active listening skills and tips on oral expression.
    Preparing and delivering oral presentations, a requirement of the new Junior Cycle English course.
  • Reading
    How to interpret the different types of texts in Junior Cycle English, including poetry, drama, fiction and non-literary texts.
    Focus on how to interpret Shakespearean texts, a compulsory requirement of the Higher Level course.
  • Writing
    How to respond to comprehension questions.
    How to expand points into developed paragraphs.
    How to plan, structure and compose short stories, personal essays and discursive pieces.

 

Irish

This course will aim to give second year students the essential skills to develop their Irish language just before they enter their Junior Cert cycle. The course is focused on ironing out any problematic areas of sentence composition therefore allowing the student to confidently compose and structure their own Irish sentences. We will cover the three primary tenses as well as irregular verbs, conjugation of questions and negatives, the saorbhriathar, numbers, the urú and the séimhiú. To complement our class notes, students will also have access to videos to reinforce course material. By the end of our first course, students will have a better understanding of the building blocks of the Irish language (which will allow for a smoother transition to our easter material)

    Notes are provided on a selection of the texts regarding poetry, short stories and drama from the list of recommended texts.

Upon completion of this course it is envisaged that students will have an excellent knowledge of both the layout and the topics for the Junior Cycle Higher Level Irish exam.

A:       Yes. Our online classes are supported by the Institute’s exam-focused class notes which will be delivered to students homes FREE of charge. Please allow five working days for delivery.
