Online Christmas Camp for 2nd Year Students

This 4-day Online Christmas Camp for 2nd Year students provides students with expert tuition, high quality notes and key techniques to enable them to achieve their maximum potential in their exams.
The course provides students with both live online classes, where they can interact and engage directly with the teacher, and pre-recorded tutorials, which will be made available to the students in advance and after the course is finished. All classes will be supported by The Institute of Education’s legendary class notes, which support tuition. These will be provided free of charge and will be delivered in December, in advance of the course start.

This course focuses on the new Project Maths syllabus for Junior Cycle. Students are encouraged to gain confidence in their problem solving skills through a series of practical, interactive exercises. This course will also include material following on from the Common Introductory Course.
Further operations in algebra, simplifications, brackets, powers, long division.
Primes, Grouping, Difference of two squares, Quadratics.
Venn diagrams with 2 and 3 sets, all set operations- intersection; union, Venn diagrams, set difference, complement and universal set.
Percentages, Fractions, Financial calculations, Calculations performed with and without a calculator.

Properties and Characteristics of numbers, the Number Line, Natural numbers, Integers, Factors, Squares, Prime Numbers.
- Number II
Fractions; Decimals: Operations, Rounding, Order of operations.
Sample spaces, Probability scale, Tree diagrams, two-way tables, word problems.

In this course students are introduced to key elements of the Junior Cycle Common Level Science syllabus.
The Path of Food/ Digestion.
Respiration and Photosynthesis.
Acids and Bases.
Metals and Non-Metals.
Motion and force.

Big Bang Theory.
This course focuses on developing the skills required for the new Junior Cycle English course, in particular the three key strands of oral language, reading and writing:
- Oral Language
Active listening skills and tips on oral expression.
Preparing and delivering oral presentations, a requirement of the new Junior Cycle English course.
How to interpret the different types of texts in Junior Cycle English, including poetry, drama, fiction and non-literary texts.
Focus on how to interpret Shakespearean texts, a compulsory requirement of the Higher Level course.
How to respond to comprehension questions.
How to expand points into developed paragraphs.
How to plan, structure and compose short stories, personal essays and discursive pieces.
This intensive course is aimed at students who wish to improve their level of Irish and who aim to do Higher Level for the Junior Certificate. Students are provided with high quality notes and excellent revision handouts.
Skill for answering the listening section of the Junior Cycle.
Useful phrases for essay and story writing.

Focus on the key question words and phrases, in addition to practising Junior Cycle comprehensions.
Irish grammar forms an integral part of the course.
Notes are provided on a selection of the texts regarding poetry, short stories and drama from the list of recommended texts.
Upon completion of this course it is envisaged that students will have an excellent knowledge of both the layout and the topics for the Junior Cycle Higher Level Irish exam.
