Goal setting and how it can help you stay motivated and focused is the theme of Brian Gregan’s motivational talk for students here in the Institute this month.
Brian will be sharing his experience as an international athlete, and explaining how goal setting techniques help him prepare for each Olympic cycle.
Focusing on the importance of setting SMART (Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Relevant and Timely) goals, Brian will be explaining how the clearer the goal, the more likely you are to achieve it. Breaking large scale goals into smaller achievable chunks helps provide you with direction, giving you long term vision and short term motivation.
Brian will also be focusing on the importance of time management and organisation- how best to utilise the resources you have available and the importance of removing anything that distracts you from your goal.
Brian’s talks are part of the Institute’s Health & Fitness programme for all full-time 4th, 5th and 6th year students. The talks take place three times a week in the school and all students are encouraged to attend.
