Some of our 4th year students are learning what it’s like to run their own business this year by taking part in the Student Enterprise Awards Programme.
The team have been busy working on their business idea since October, and submitted their Business Report to the competition judges earlier today. Their business concept centres on an innovative new product, the S.O.S Box, a sanitary oral solutions container, which not only acts as a standard gum shield box, but also sterilises your gum shield using UV light. You can visit their Facebook page here.
As well as finding out what life is like as their own boss, the students are also learning real life skills associated with running a enterprise including working as part of a team, managing production and finances, organising a sales and marketing campaign and liaising directly with customers, judges and the media.
Programme Co-ordinator Tom O’Donnell held a series of workshops with the team to help brainstorm business ideas and develop their plan, and they have also been working with Business teacher Keith Hannigan.
The City Final will take place at Dublin Castle on March 15th, when students will have to present their business idea to a panel of judges. Wishing our team all the very best of luck in this competition!
