Statement of commitment

Institute of Education is committed to making its website accessible, in accordance with the European Union (Accessibility of Websites and Mobile Applications of Public Sector Bodies) Regulations 2020 (S.I. 358/2020).

What you should be able to do on this site

You should be able to:

• zoom up to 400% without text spilling off the screen

Compliance status

Institute of Education (“the website”): we believe this site is fully compliant with the requirements set out in S.I. 358/2020 (European Union (Accessibility of Websites and Mobile Applications of Public Sector Bodies) Regulations 2020), based on the EN 301 549 v3.2.1 standard. This assessment is based on testing a representative sample of pages and templates covering the site’s key user journeys and content types, tested against WCAG 2.1 AA and WCAG 2.2 AA. Given the size of the site, not every individual page was tested; however, we believe the sample tested is representative of the site as a whole.

Non-accessible content

Content not within scope

Some pages on this website may include third-party embedded content (for example, embedded Youtube videos, CookieYes – Cookie Control) that is not developed or controlled by the Institute of Education. Where we are aware of accessibility issues with this content, we have listed them below:

• Some embedded YouTube videos may not have audio descriptions.
• Missing or auto-generated captions on YouTube videos rather than accurate, reviewed ones.
• There can be keyboard and focus-order issues within the embedded YouTube player itself.

Preparation of this accessibility statement

This statement was first prepared on 31 July 2026. As this is a newly launched site, this preparation date also serves as the first review. The statement will be reviewed at least annually thereafter, or sooner if the website changes significantly.

This assessment was carried out by our service provider. The website was assessed against WCAG 2.2 Level AA using a combination of automated and manual testing, including keyboard-only checks and screen-reader testing. Our approach follows considerations of the W3C WCAG-EM methodology.
