Guidance and Student Support

Secondary school is demanding, exam years especially. What makes the difference is not pretending otherwise, it's having the right people around you. At The Institute of Education, guidance, counselling and student support are not add-ons. They are built into how the school works.

Head of Safeguarding

Every parent wants to know two things when choosing a school. Will my child be looked after, and will they get where they want to go. My job covers both.

Our guidance team works with every student in the school, with no limit on one-to-one appointments. Whether it is subject choices, CAO applications or working out what comes after the Leaving Cert, students here are never left to figure it out alone. Parents are always welcome to be part of those conversations.

Just as important is how students feel day to day. Exam years bring real pressure, and we take that seriously. Our counselling and support team is here for every student, whatever they need, whenever they need it. Every child in this school has the right to feel safe, supported and known, and it is my responsibility to make sure they do.

If you have any questions about how we would support your child, I would be glad to hear from you.
