The Institute of Education was delighted to host the Irish Applied Maths Teachers Association (IATMA) Senior Problem-Solving Table Quiz last evening.
22 teams took part in the event. Teams were comprised of two 6th year students and one from either 5th or 6th year.
Teams were presented with three problems in each round; two on Applied Maths (Uniform acceleration, projectiles, connected particles, relative velocity and collisions) and one which required on-the-spot brain-power alone.
Congratulations to Castleknock College who came in 1st place. We would also like to congratulate our own teams from The Institute of Education for representing us so well and claiming three of the top four places on the evening:
2nd Place – Oscar Xu, Gavin Xu and Haoran Ni
3rd Place – Liam Smithers, Priya Rait and Duilan Sun
4th Place- Mateusz Jakobik, Leo Heinen and Jionglin Li
Special thanks goes to Oliver Murphy for organising the evening and to Hilary Dorgan and Andy Quinn for their help.
We would also like to thank our wonderful 4th, 5th and 5th years students for volunteering on the evening and helping to ensure that everything ran so smoothly.
