Welcome to Week 12 of The Buzz Newsletter!
It’s Week 12 of The Buzz Newsletter, and there are more student successes to celebrate! Congratulations to 5th Year students Aditi Kadem and Haotian Sheng who emerged in the top 30 if 180 participants from round 1 to make it through to round 2 of the Irish Olympiad of Experimental Science (IrEOES) which took place at the Glasnevin campus of DCU on Saturday 9th November. Aditi won silver, coming in second in the Chemistry category of IrEOES. The third round will take place in January after which two students from each category will be chosen to compete internationally in Croatia in April 2025. Best of luck Aditi!
Sparking Joy is back! Sparking Joy is our most popular competition, bringing a lovely energy with it and making everyone smile. Whether it is your pet, a sea view or a floating Autumn leaf – we would love to see it, so please share the joy and send in your photos.
Thank you to everyone who got involved in Science Week last week! Whether it was through experiments at home or through our Moodle page. Thank you to Róisín Doyle for sharing the daily Irish scientist spotlights, science riddles and moodle activities. Thank you also to Dee Kelly for running experiments with the 4th Years. It was a great week of inspiring people to engage with science, engineering and technology!
Congratulations to our art teacher Declan Kelly and his wife Els Borghart on the birth of their baby boy Miles!
