Luke Rock has been teaching Irish at The Institute of Education since 2020. He holds a first-class Honours degree in Iris and Music and an MPhil with Distinction in Applied Linguistics from Trinity College Dublin, where he also taught Irish. During his time in Trinity, Luke was also a recipient of various scholarships including the European Excellence Scholarship and the Irish Language Residency Scholarship.
Luke has a methodical and exam-focused approach to teaching Irish. Using meticulously prepared notes, he strives to support students in building the foundational language skills they will need to tackle the Irish syllabus. He is an experienced translator and has translated a number of schoolbooks into Irish. He has worked in various Gaeltachtaí and contributed to discussions around the teaching of Irish on Raidió na Gaeltachta. Luke also lends his voice to various Junior and Leaving Certificate textbooks.
Luke is the 4th Year Tutor and Head of Wellbeing at The Institute of Education and coordinates to our Gaeltacht Summer programmes.
