Our 3rd Year August 2024 Preparation Course is aimed specifically at students entering the final year of the Junior Cycle.

During this comprehensive 5-day prep course, our expert teachers will lay the foundations for the year ahead by revisiting previous material and introducing new topics.

Students can choose to study through fully interactive online and/or onsite classes, at our Leeson Street Campus in Dublin City Centre. All students attending our online classes will receive their exam-focused course notes in the post. Those attending onsite classes will receive their notes in the classroom.

English

Junior Cycle English is a wide ranging course based on three strands; Oral, Reading and Writing.

The aim of this Summer Course is to educate students around the key areas of the syllabus and to provide the skills required to address the various different types of assessments.

Notes and online tutorial videos explaining everything we cover will be provided.

Upon completion of the course students will have more confidence in their own writing and will be ready for all types of assessments.

French

This course is structured to ensure students achieve the best results possible in their Junior Cycle French exam.
Topics from: 

  •  Listening and Reading Comprehensions techniques, and vocabulary

  • Written Production:  Students will review key concepts to help them maximise their marks in the written section of the Junior Cycle French exam. Essential vocabulary, as well as sample answers and marking schemes will be studied.

  • Grammar: 3 core Tenses (Present, Future and Past), questions, negative forms

 

Irish

This course will prepare students by developing their language skills to equip them to deal with all areas of the Junior Cycle Irish course. Focus will be placed on poetry, comprehension questions, composition skills, and grammar including the past and present tense, irregular verbs, sentence structure and question phrases. This course will give students the confidence needed to tackle the Junior Cycle Irish exam by exploring the best ways to gain marks in all sections of the course.

Maths

This course will revise core topics and prepare students entering 3rd year for Junior Cycle Maths.

    • Solving Equations (Linear, Quadratics and Simultaneous)
  • Coordinate Geometry of the line

Science

This course is structured to ensure students achieve the best results possible in their Junior Cycle Science exam.

We are currently enrolling for our course which begins on Monday 12th August 2024.

Each subject chosen will run over 5 consecutive days and each class is 60 mins in duration.

Q: How do I access my online classes?


A: Students enrolled on the course will receive an email from us containing their unique login details and link to access their chosen subjects through our online student platform, Moodle. Login credentials will be sent in advance of the course start date. Only those details sent to you will enable you to successfully access classes online.

 

Q: How are the online classes hosted?


A: All online classes are hosted live on Microsoft Teams. The links to the weekly classes are accessed via Moodle. Students must sign into both Moodle and MS Teams with the @instituteofeducation.ie login credentials sent to the student.

 

Q: Are the online classes pre-recorded?


A: Each online class is taught live with the teacher and class group as per the timetable. Recordings of each class will be available after each live class is completed. These can then be replayed as a revision aid until the end of June 2025.

 

Q: Will I have access to recordings of the live classes?


A: Yes, recordings of classes will be available after each live class is completed. All classes are also recorded live. You will be able to re-watch, pause and rewind the class recordings as often as you wish, making them an invaluable revision aid. The live recordings will be available until the end of the State Exams in 2025.
We advise that all students enrolling in our online classes have access to the following:
– A reliable Wi-Fi service
– A PC, Laptop, Tablet or similar device (We would recommend not to use a mobile phone)
– Headphone/Earphones

 

Q: If I'm attending the online classes, will I have access to the notes?


A: Yes, students enrolled in the online classes will receive a delivery of notes for each chosen subject. Please allow five working days for delivery from the time of booking. Notes are also available online on our student platform Moodle.

 

Q: If I enrol in an online class can I still also enrol in other classes in Leeson Street?


A: Yes, Students can enrol in a mixture of classes online and at our school campus in Leeson Street.

 

Q: Are my onsite classes recorded?


A: Yes, All classes, whether online or onsite, are recorded and available to students to watch back online for revision. All students will be sent login details for our student platform; Moodle, where they can watch back any of their classes.

 

Q: Are the class notes available online?


A: Yes, notes are available online on our student platform Moodle.

 

Q: How long is each class?


A: Each class is 60 minutes in duration each day for 5 days.

 

Q: How much is the fee per class?


A: This depends on the number of subjects taken. Please refer to the fees table to see a list of fees.

 

Q: Are the classes conducted ‘lecture style’ or are students free to ask questions?


A: Our classes are interactive and our teachers use a variety of methods to ensure that students can ask questions and contribute to the class.

 

Q: Can my son/daughter join the course after it has started?


A: Yes, students are welcome to join after the course has started, the full fee will apply, and students will get access to the recordings of classes that have already taken place. Notes for online classes will be posted, please allow up to 5 working days for delivery.

 

Q: My son/daughter cannot attend the course. Can we buy the notes?


A: No, Teaching is a central part of all our courses and classes. The notes are to facilitate recall and revision of what was covered in class by the teacher.

 

Q: Can I cancel my classes and get a refund?


A: Yes, refunds can be organised for cancelled classes if our office is notified before the course commences. A request for a refund can be made by contacting our office on 01 6613511 or helpdesk@instituteofeducation.ie.
