We are delighted to announce that from September 2021 Leaving Cert Physical Education (LCPE) will be available as a subject to students of The Institute of Education.
The aim of LCPE is to develop students capacity to become informed, skilled, self-directed and reflective performers in physical education and physical activity in senior cycle and in their future life.
The subject is composed of two distinct Strands:
- Strand One: Theoretical perspectives that impact optimum performance and how to apply this understanding to a range of different activities
- Strand Two: Contemporary issues in physical activity and how different people experience physical activity and sport
Brian Gregan will be our LCPE teacher. Brian has vast experience in this field. He is a professional 400m sprinter, 8-time national 400m championship title holder, European Medallist and has represented Ireland at European level three times. Brian joined The Institute of Education three years ago as Director of Sport. He holds a Sports Science Degree from DCU and is a Level 2 Athletics Coach.
