Irish For Primary Teaching

Our Irish For Primary Teaching course is for students wishing to enrol on a Professional Master in Education PME (Primary Teaching) post graduate degree, but have not achieved at least a H4 in their Leaving Certificate Irish Exam.

The course is designed specifically for students who are no longer in full-time Secondary Level Education and who may not have studied Irish in a number of years.

Throughout the 29 week course, our expert teacher, Nuala Uí Cheallaigh, will support students of all abilities to ensure they excel in the Irish exam.

Students who enrol on this course will also be provided with support for the TEG oral examination free of charge.

Who will be teaching this course?

The teacher for this course is Nuala Uí Cheallaigh.

Nuala Uí Cheallaigh is an Irish teacher with over 20 years teaching experience.

Nuala’s unique teaching style inspires students to be more confident and self-assured in the subject. She provides her students with the skills necessary to master both the Irish language and the requirements of the syllabus.

Nuala has a deep understanding of the Junior Cycle and Leaving Certificate examination process having worked as a corrector with the State Examinations Commission (SEC) for 14 years.

Nuala holds a BA from University College Dublin, a H.dip from Trinity College Dublin and an M.Ed from the University of Ulster.

She works as an Academic Tutor on the University of Limerick’s teacher training programme. In addition, she is a post primary, (school) student teacher placement tutor with the University of Limerick and previously with the National University of Ireland Maynooth. Nuala has also provided Dianchúrsa Gaeilge for students of Dublin City University’s B.Ed programme.

Nuala edited an Irish textbook for the new Junior Cycle syllabus and was awarded the All Island Entrepreneur Educator of the Year in 2007.

The tutor for the course is Luke Rock.

When do classes take place?

Who is this course for?

What are the entry requirements for the Professional Masters in Education PME (Primary Teaching)?

The course will run over 29 weeks, commencing September 2024. The course will include all aspects of the Leaving certificate course, the written the listening and the oral aspects. There is a crossover on the oral work for the leaving Certificate exam and the TEG exam. Students will be offered the opportunity to attend oral preparation tutorial and partake in a mock oral before their exams.

Course features:

  1. 2 hour online class once per week.
  2. Homework exercises set and corrected with feedback provided to students.
  3. Onsite (or at home) mock exams in March.
  4. Mock oral after Christmas.
  5. Attendance at TEG Course Free of Charge.

For the Academic Year 2024/25 this Irish for Primary School Teaching Course will take place every Monday at 19:00 as per the Weekly Schedule below.

NOTE: All classes are 120 minutes in duration.

The fee for enrolling in this course is: €1,645.

All students joining our weekly classes now will receive access to recordings of all the classes for which they have enrolled.  In addition, they will have access to recordings of the classes that have already taken place since the start of the course. This is an invaluable aid when it comes to revision.
