Our 5th Year October Midterm Revision Course is designed to help students achieve better results.
Taught by our expert teachers, these 4-hour live-online and onsite classes give students the key skills and exam strategies needed to achieve their academic potential.
Students can choose to study onsite at our Leeson Street Campus OR online through fully interactive classes.
The recordings of each class will be available to rewatch for FREE until the end of The State Exams 2025.
This course also provides with The Institute’s renowned exam-focused course notes. All students attending online classes online will receive their exam-focused notes in the post. Those attending onsite classes will receive their notes in the classroom.

English (H)
The 4-hour session will be divided into four distinct revision areas (55-60 mins each with a brief break in between each session)
Notes and sample answers will be provided and the following topics will be covered:
- Paper 1: 50 Mark Question A Reading Comprehension tasks – focus on sample answer structures and layout.
- Paper 1: 100 Mark “Composing” question – specific focus on the approaches to maximising marks in the “Speeches & Debates” questions.
- Paper 2: Intro to the “Unseen Poem” and the selected poems of John Donne.
- Paper 2: Macbeth – Theme of “Kingship” and character analysis of “Banquo”.
- Additional guidelines on discursive essay writing also provided.
Irish (H)
As 5th year can be a be quite daunting, this block course will introduce students to an overview of the Leaving Cert exam. The course will explain the layout, time frame and marking schemes in order to get our students feeling confident about the Senior Cycle. We will provide excellent material on the poetry and the prose pieces needed for the literary Paper Two explaining main themes, images, and character developments. Following on from this, our students are provided with key material for the 40% oral exam on the everyday topics while also showing how Irish pronunciation works. From this, we will then demonstrate how best to approach essay learning by providing material, phrases and key vocab. Finishing our course, we will introduce our students to the structuring of Irish sentences promoting a self confidence in writing in Irish.
Maths (H)
This class covers the methods, formulae and procedures required for success in the Leaving Certificate Higher Level Maths course.

Q: What subjects are available in Leeson Street?

Q: If I enrol in a class in Leeson Street, can I also avail of classes online?
A: Yes, you can enrol in a combination of online and onsite classes.
Q: Are my onsite classes recorded?
A: Yes, All classes, whether online or onsite, are recorded and available to students to watch back online for revision. All students will be sent login details for our student platform; Moodle, where they can watch back any of their classes.
Q: Are the class notes available online?
A: Yes. A soft copy is available on the Moodle Course page for each class booked. In addition, if you are attending a class onsite, class notes will be provided to you in the classroom. If you are attending an online class, class notes will be posted directly to you. Please ensure you include your Eircode when registering to ensure notes are posted to the correct location.
Q: How long is each class?
A: Each class lasts 4 hours.
Q: How much is the fee per subject?
A: This depends on the number of subjects taken. Please refer to the fees table to see a list of fees.
Q: Are the classes conducted ‘lecture style’ or are students free to ask questions?
A: Our classes are run in more lecture style than most students might be used to in school. However they are also interactive and our teachers use a variety of methods to ensure that students can ask questions and contribute to the class.
Online Midterm Revision Course – FAQ
Q: What subjects are available Online?

Q: How do I access my online grinds classes?
A: Students enrolled on the course will receive an email from us containing their unique login details and links to access their chosen subjects. Login credentials will be sent in advance of course start date. Only those details sent to you will enable you to successfully access classes online.
Q: How are the online grinds hosted?
A: All online classes are hosted live on Microsoft Teams. The links to the classes are accessed via Moodle. Students must sign into both Moodle and MS Teams with the @instituteofeducation.ie login credentials sent to the student.
Q: Are the online classes pre-recorded?
A: No, each online class is taught live as per the timetable. Recordings of classes will be available after each live class is completed. These can then be replayed as a revision aid.
Q: Will I have access to recordings of the classes?
A: Yes, recordings of classes will be available after each live class is completed. These can then be replayed as a revision aid. These will be available up until the end of June 2025.
Q: What do I need access the classes?
A: We would advise that all students enrolling in our online classes have the following:
• Access to a reliable wifi service.
• Access to a PC, Laptop, Tablet, or similar device.
• We would not recommend using a mobile phone.
• Headphones/earphones.
Q: If I'm attending the online classes will I have access to the notes?
A: Yes, students enrolled in online classes will receive a delivery of notes for each chosen subject and will also have access to online notes on the Moodle Course pages. Please allow five working days for delivery from the time of booking.
