Our 5th Year October Midterm Revision Course is designed to help students achieve better results.

Taught by our expert teachers, these 3-hour live online or onsite classes give students the key skills and exam strategies needed to achieve their academic potential.

Students can choose to study onsite at our Leeson Street Campus or online through fully interactive classes.

The recordings of each class will be available to rewatch for free until the end of The State Exams 2027.

This course also provides with The Institute’s renowned exam-focused course notes. All students attending online classes online will receive their exam-focused notes in the post. Those attending onsite classes will receive their notes in the classroom.

English

The 3 hour session will be divided into four distinct revision areas.
Notes and Sample answers will be provided and the following topics will be covered:

Paper 1 – Reading Comprehension Tasks – Focus on sample answer structures and layout

Paper 1 – Composing questions – Argumentative, Persuasive and Speech Writing

Paper 1 – Intro to the ‘Unseen Poem’ and Sylvia Plath poetry analysis

Paper 2 – Hamlet – Analysis of the full play with a focus on key moments and Hamlet character anaylsis

Irish

As 5th year can be a be quite daunting, this 3 hour course will introduce students to an overview of the Leaving Cert exam. The course will explain the layout, time frame and marking schemes in order to get our students feeling confident about the Senior Cycle.

We will provide excellent material on the poetry and the prose pieces needed for the literary Paper Two explaining main themes, images, and character developments. Following on from this, our students are provided with key material for the 40% oral exam on the everyday topics while also showing how Irish pronunciation works.

From this, we will then demonstrate how best to approach essay learning by providing material, phrases and key vocab. Throughout this course, we will introduce our students to the structuring of Irish sentences promoting a self confidence in writing in Irish.

Maths

This 3 hour intense revison course will include core foundational topics from Algebra. Students will develop a stronger grasp of core concepts, learn effective exam techniques, and gain the confidence needed to tackle challenging questions.

Chemistry

This course gives a comprehensive overview of key elements of the key Leaving Certificate Syllabus.

Topics covered include:

  • Bohr and electron configurations
  • Volumetric analysis
  • Stoichiometry (moles, concentration, empirical and molecular formula)
  • Oxidation and reduction

Biology

Topics covered include:

  • Cell Division
  • Enzymes
  • Photosynthesis
  • Respiration
  • Blood

  • Human Digestion
  • Human Breathing

We are currently enrolling for our course which begins on Tuesday 27th October 2026.

Each subject chosen will run over one day and each course is 3 hours in duration.

FAQ

How do I access my online classes?

Students enrolled on the course will receive an email from us containing their unique login details and link to access their chosen subjects through our online student platform, Moodle. Login credentials will be sent in advance of the course start date. Only those details sent to you will enable you to successfully access classes online.

How are the online classes hosted?

All online classes are hosted live on Microsoft Teams. The links to the classes are accessed via Moodle. Students must sign into both Moodle and MS Teams with the @instituteofeducation.ie login credentials sent to the student.

Are the online classes pre-recorded?

Each online class is taught live with the teacher and class group as per the timetable. Recordings of each class will be available after each live class is completed. These can then be replayed as a revision aid until the end of June 2027.

Will I have access to recordings of the live classes?

Yes, recordings of classes will be available after each live class is completed. All classes are also recorded live. You will be able to re-watch, pause and rewind the class recordings as often as you wish, making them an invaluable revision aid. The live recordings will be available until the end of the State Exams in 2027. We advise that all students enrolling in our online classes have access to the following: – A reliable Wi-Fi service – A PC, Laptop, Tablet or similar device (We would recommend not to use a mobile phone) – Headphone/Earphones

If I'm attending the online classes, will I have access to the notes?

Yes, students enrolled in the online classes will receive a delivery of notes for each chosen subject. Please allow five working days for delivery from the time of booking. Notes are also available online on our student platform Moodle.

If I enrol in an online class can I still also enrol in other classes in Leeson Street?

Yes, Students can enrol in a mixture of classes online and at our school campus in Leeson Street.

Are my onsite classes recorded?

Yes, All classes, whether online or onsite, are recorded and available to students to watch back online for revision. All students will be sent login details for our student platform; Moodle, where they can watch back any of their classes.

Are the class notes available online?

Yes, notes are available online on our student platform Moodle.

How long is each class?

Each course happens over one day and is three hours long in duration.

How much is the fee per class?

It is €165 for one course and it’s 3 for the price of 1 on courses.

Can a 5th Year part-time student join a 6th Year class if the subject is not available at 5th Year level?

Yes, but consideration must be given to any changes in curriculum. Please contact our office to arrange this on 01 661 3511.

Are the classes conducted 'lecture style' or are students free to ask questions?

Our classes are interactive and our teachers use a variety of methods to ensure that students can ask questions and contribute to the class.

Can my son/daughter join the course after it has started?

Yes, students are welcome to join after the course has started, the full fee will apply, and students will get access to the recordings of classes that have already taken place. Notes for online classes will be posted, please allow up to 5 working days for delivery.

My son/daughter cannot attend the course. Can we buy the notes?

No, Teaching is a central part of all our courses and classes. The notes are to facilitate recall and revision of what was covered in class by the teacher.

Can I cancel my classes and get a refund?

Yes, refunds can be organised for cancelled classes if our office is notified before the course commences. A request for a refund can be made by contacting our office on 01 6613511 or visit our Help Desk.
