Computers & Coding

The Institute of Education Coding Camp is a wonderful opportunity to improve practical skills during our immersive computer and coding camp. Designed to inspire children of all abilities that have an interest in STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics).

The camp will help our “coders” learn the skills required to collaborate, work in a team and share knowledge and skills. Through different tasks, students will develop key critical thinking skills and learn how to problem solve in any situation, all while socialising and having fun with their peers.

Children of all abilities are welcome, and they will learn about the different facets of computers and coding. Our team “leaders” will support the “coders” in a fun, relaxed and friendly environment, ensuring they get the most out of the camp, igniting a love for all things coding along the way!

Cookery Skills

The Institute of Education Cooking Camp is a wonderful opportunity to inspire the little “head chef” in your family. This course will inspire the “chefs” to learn the fundamentals of nutrition, cooking and taste. This five-day cooking course is perfect for those interested in the art of cooking and the science of nutrition.

The students will be led by a dedicated team of skilled and experienced leaders, who will share their love of cooking, demonstrate and teach the practical skills required to become the family Head Chef!
This is very much a hands on experience. The ‘chefs’ will learn by doing; whether chopping, prepping, grilling, frying or baking and will be able to present their culinary creations at the end. The camp will be based in our teaching kitchen, with all ingredients provided.

Please contact our office to discuss any dietary requirements or food allergies in advance of enrolling on this course, as we may not be able to accommodate all requirements.

Science

This camp will introduce students to the wonder of scientific discovery and brings fun and excitement to the exploration of science and the scientific approach. Children attending the camp will spend the week in a fully equipped school science lab, working on experiments, discovering and investigating interesting and engaging scientific principles.

Camp details:

  • Water Cycle Investigation: Rainclouds in a jar/poster making/make your own water cycles.
  • DNA research and accompanying experiment to isolate DNA from plant tissues.
  • Oobleck activity
  • Using microscopes and viewing various plant and animal cells.
  • Making crystals using copper sulphate.
  • Investigating density.
  • Investigating osmosis using potatoes.

All materials will be provided, children will need a smart phone/tablet to engage in teacher directed mini research activities.

This camp is designed to instil a love of discovery, engender curiosity and instil a passion for science.
