TEG Oral Preparation Course

Commences Saturday 16th November 2024

The TEG Oral Preparation Course will take place across 5 weekends between November 2024 and January 2025, with all classes taking place onsite at our Leeson Street Campus.

This course prepares applicants for the TEG Meánleibhéal 1 (B1) exam, an application requirement for the PME in Primary Education. It will incorporate all aspects of the TEG oral examination including general conversation, role card activities and picture sequences.

The break between weekends provides students with the opportunity to revise and practice content covered in previous weekends before solidifying all areas of the oral exam in the final weekend.

The course also includes a one-to-one mock oral interview, which simulates TEG conditions. This mock interview is intended to build confidence and conversational technique, ensuring a more relaxed and confident performance in the oral examination.

What is TEG?

Applicants are required to take the Teastas Eorpach Gaeilge (TEG) Level B1 oral Irish examination for admission to the PME in Primary Education in the following colleges:

  • DCU (St. Pat’s Drumcondra)
  • Marino Institute of Education
  • Maynooth (Froebel)
  • Mary Immaculate College (Limerick)
  • Hibernia College (TEG B1 provides exemption from oral Irish interview)

A minimum of 65% must be attained on this examination to be eligible to apply for the PME (Primary) programme. This certification will be valid for two years before the examination needs to be retaken.

Dates for TEG B1 oral examinations have not yet been set for 2025. However, they will occur in January and February.
