David Connolly is an English teacher with more than 7 years’ experience. David is also the Head of Extra-Curricular activities in the Institute, overseeing the introduction and delivery of over 20 hours of events each week ranging from Robotics to Table Tennis.
During his time as Head of Extracurriculars, David has grown our Debating and Model UN programs substantially such that we are now the hosts of Oxford and Cambridge’s Irish Schools Debating Rounds. Additionally, he has helped launch the Institute’s own events in Debating, Chess and MUN (for which we partnered with another Duke’s school in Portugal). He personally teaches the Philosophy, Creative Writing and Film Studies activities, helping to combine key academic skills with the students’ passion and curiosity.
David has won 2 competitive scholarships and 3 trust fund awards for Philosophy. He has presented internationally at the conference of the Nordic Society of Phenomenology in Stockholm. He has also been a Guest teacher at the UCD philosophy summer school.
