Robbie teaches Irish and Spanish and has worked for many years with the State Examinations Commission devising curricula and as an exam corrector. He was a member of the NCCA committees tasked with devising Junior Cycle and Leaving Certificate courses. Robbie was a member of the Board of COGG for 6 years. COGG is the umbrella body for Gaeltact schools and schools which teach through the medium of Irish or Gaelscoileanna.
Robbie has written and published a broad range of popular exam textbooks including Blas, Caint is Comhrà, Fìs and Èist.
Also , Robbie returned to the books himself and did Italian in the Leaving Certificate himself where he achieved a H1.
