It’s Week 14 of The Buzz Newsletter, Happy December! Congratulations to 5th Year student Zihan He who won the 12-15 category of The National Gallery of Ireland’s annual AIB Young Portrait Prize. The awards took place in The National Gallery on the 27th November. Zihan’s portrait of her mother is currently hanging in the National Gallery as part of the exhibition which features the shortlist of works chosen from hundreds of entries each year. Well done Zihan!
Congratulations are in order for all of you students! To date you have helped keep nearly 25,000 plastic bottles out of circulation because of your consistent use of reusable alternatives, keep up the good work! Don’t forget to register your interest with the school’s sustainability committee at the QR code in The Buzz.
The deadline for the Christmas poster competition is Monday 16th December. The poster can be handmade or made digitally and there will be a prize for the winner.
Any 6th Years who have not yet seen a guidance counsellor this year to go over your plans for next year, please do so. The guidance team is looking forward to meeting you and supporting you with your decision making.
Remember that UCAS offers are made on a rolling basis, so it’s important to get your application submitted early. If you’d like your UCAS application to be submitted before Christmas, pay and submit before Monday 9th December. All other applications must be paid and submitted by Monday 13th January.
HPAT 2024 registration is now open. You will need a CAO number to register. The test window is 14th – 23rd February 2025. and costs €160.80. Closing date for registration is 17th January but we recommend getting in early.

- 7th December: TU Dublin Open Day – Grangegorman campus
- 10th January: RCSI Open Day. Now open for registration, this will book out so register early to avoid missing out.
Masterclasses:
- This Monday 2nd there is a Biology masterclass with Wesley Hammond. It is for 5th & 6th Years and is in room 4-8 at 3:30pm.
- This Monday 2nd there is a Biology masterclass with Emily Brady. It is for 5th & 6th Years and is live online at 7pm.
