The Minister for Education and Skills has formally announced that the traditional Leaving Certificate examinations will not take place this Summer (click here for statement).
At the press conference this afternoon, the Minister provided some information surrounding the process of awarding calculated grades to students. We are awaiting the full details of the proposed process and clear guidelines from the Department of Education and Skills.
The Institute of Education remains committed to the wellbeing and academic interest of all our students and we will approach this proposed process of calculated grades with the utmost professionalism and equity. Over the coming days, our management team will review the guidance from the Department of Education and Skills including their Guide to Calculated Grades for Leaving Certificate students 2020
We will develop the necessary processes to ensure that our all our students are treated with fairness and equity. We will follow the Department guidelines and we will continue to keep our students and parents informed at all times as we all work through these exceptionally difficult times for our students.
