It’s Week 15 of The Buzz Newsletter and once again there are student successes to celebrate! Congratulations to 6th Year student Síona Beagon who won silver in the Irish National U19 Cup for Water Polo with her team ST. Vincent’s. Competing from 29th November to 1st December in Limerick, they beat out Diamonds for a spot in the final. Well done Síona and team.
Congratulations also to Liyuan Liu who scored an outstanding result of 120 in the American Mathematics Competition (AMC)12, placing him in the top 1% and giving him a great chance of getting through to the American Invitational Maths Exam (AIME) in February 2024. AIME is a selective and prestigious 3 hour test which is used in America to choose their Maths Olympiad team. Liyuan will find out in the next month if he qualifies for AIME, we wish Liyuan the very best of luck!
6th Year students are encouraged to meet with or contact Orla to organise their mock revision study plan over the next few weeks. Orla also has three short lunch-time workshops on this week in LG-1 at 12:30 on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday for any students who want support in their revision planning. Students can sign up to attend in the study hall.
Reminder that the guidance team is here to support you in anything you need, drop into them any day from 8:30-9:30am with no appointment, or make an appointment using the QR code.
To any 6th Years who have yet to open their CAO account, we highly recommend doing so as soon as possible.
Anybody hoping to get their UCAS application in before Christmas should be submitting it today. Please see your guidance counsellor if you need any assistance.
Anyone applying for UCD Ad Astra Elite Sports or Performing Arts scholarships should be working on their applications in advance of the 31st January closing date.
The dual BA program between Trinity College and Columbia university closing date for applications is January 2nd. Students must have everything they need from the school ready before the Christmas holidays. If there is anything outstanding, please let your guidance counsellor know.
