It’s Week 21 of The Buzz Newsletter! Congratulations to 6th Year student Tom Hayden who is the 2026 winner of our annual Wellbeing Poetry Competition. Students were invited to submit their own poetry with the aim of promoting positivity. Read Tom’s poem below!

Well done to 4th Year student Elliot Guest on his highly Commended Delegate Award from BELVOMUN 2026 (Belvedere Model United Nations). Elliot represented Mozambique in the Ecology & Environment Committee. Delegates debated topics ranging from the ecological restoration of war zones to sustainable aviation and digital pollution. Well done Elliot!

A final reminder to 6th Years that Orla has recently uploaded Study Skills content to Moodle to assist you with your studies. With the Mocks starting next week, don’t forget Orla is available to any 6th Year who would like help structuring their study sessions. Just pop into LG-1 to make an appointment or email onishuilleabhain@insituteofeducation.ie.

It is a particularly busy week for our 6th Year students as they prepare for their Mocks. We hope your studies are going well and wish you all the very best of luck. All students are welcome to make appointments to meet a Guidance Counsellor to discuss future career options, courses etc. Appointments can be made through the QR codes around the school.

The normal closing date for CAO applications has now passed. In case you missed the closing date the late application facility opens on 5th March t 12pm. A fee of €65 applies.

Masterclasses:
  • Every Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday, there is drop in HL Maths revision classes with Hilary Dorgan.
  • Every Monday there is a drop in Economics revision class with Rob Quinlan. It is for 6th Years and is in HG-0 from 4:30-5:30pm, covering a new topic each week.
  • Every Tuesday & Friday there is a drop in Biology revision class with Róisín Doyle. It is for 6th Years and is in room G-4 from 7:57-8:27am.
  • Every Wednesday there is a drop in HL Maths revision class with Aidan Roantree. It is for 6th Years and is in H1-0 from 3:30-4:30pm, covering a new topic each week.
Upcoming Events:
  • 3rd February: TU Dublin Architecture Portfolio Webinar, 6pm.
  • 6th February: NCAD Portfolio submission deadline.
  • 10th & 12th February: UCD Webinar Series: “So you want to be a doctor?”.
